World Class Para Dressage Rider, Emma Sheardown has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, USA (5-10 October).
This year para-equestrian dressage will be included, for the first time, in the Games which includes the eight equestrian disciplines of dressage, eventing, show-jumping, para-equestrian dressage, driving, endurance, reining and vaulting.
Final selection for the para-equestrian dressage team took place following the International Festival of Dressage held at Hartpury in Gloucestershire – 14 to 16 July 2010.
Competing in the Para International competition at the Festival, Emma – riding Purdy’s Dream (Eddie) – was on a shortlist of ten riders.
“I was thrilled with Eddie’s performance” said Emma. “He seems to get better and better, and to be selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming World Championships is an unbelievable feeling.”
Emma is one of seven riders to be selected and will compete in Grade 1A classes – for those riders with the highest degree of disability.
She will be joined in her Grade by Beiijing gold medallist Anne Dunham, and Sophie Christiansen who can also boast an impressive tally of championship and Paralympic gold medals.
